Penner-Ash Winery
O'Brien Constructors, LLC
Penner-Ash
is a 20,000-sq.-ft. winery perched atop a ridge in Newberg,
Ore., built by O'Brien Construction. The three-level "gravity-feed"
winery adopts sustainable design and construction features.
O'Brien used a flexible concrete forming system, that allowed
them to place 1,500 cubic yards of concrete in just 8 weeks.
All the domestic water piping in the facility is flexible,
which allowed design flexibility not found in hard pipe. The
facility's natural ventilation system serves a dual purpose
- circulating air to cool the building while eliminating carbon
dioxide, a by-product of the wine making process.
