Northwest Construction's "Best
of 2002"
Washington Best of 2002 Jury
David Allen
As vice-president of business development and marketing for
Seattle mechanical services firm McKinstry Co., David Allen
is in charge of brand management, business development strategies
and marketing implementation.
The firm recently completed the mechanical design-build
work for Seattle's new Seahawks Stadium. Other projects of
note include the Experience Music Project, Fisher Plaza, SAFECO
headquarters and AT&T headquarters.
Kay Compton
Kay Compton is an associate architect and senior designer
for Seattle architecture firm NBBJ, which specializes in large,
complex projects.
NBBJ's recent projects of note include SAFECO Field, Reebok
World Headquarters, Two Union Square and Staples Center in
Los Angeles.
Compton is currently working on the United States Federal
Courthouse in downtown Seattle, a project currently under
construction.
Bill Polis
Bill Polis is the business development manager for D. W.
Close Co., a Seattle electrical and telecommunications contractor.
D. W. Close's recent major projects in the area include
work on the renovation of Marion Oliver McCaw Hall, the Summit
Building and the Vine Building.
Ben Shearer
Ben Shearer is the director of business development for W.
G. Clark Construction Co., a Seattle general contractor specializing
in non-profit, multi-family, medical and retail projects.
Recent W. G. Clark projects include the King County Regional
911 Center, University House in Issaquah, and the Muckleshoot
tribal offices.
Caroline Weiss
Caroline Weiss is an associate in civil and structural engineering
firm KPFF's Seattle office.
The firm's projects of note include SeaTac International Airport's
STEP project, Evergreen Hospital Medical Center, and several
projects on the University of Washington campus. Weiss has
specifically worked on the SeaTac STEP project, the Amgen
Helix Research Center (formerly Immunex) in Seattle and the
Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver, Wash.

Philip Boultinghouse
Philip Boultinghouse is a senior structural engineer and
associate at David Evans and Associates in Portland, Ore.
DEA specializes in land development, planning, telecommunications,
transportation engineering, surveying and environmental work.
The firm's recent major projects include Portland's Hawthorne
Bridge renovation, the Interstate MAX line and the MAX line
to the Portland International Airport. Boultinghouse has specifically
been involved in his firm's work on the Albany Transportation
Center, the Sokol Blosser Barrel storage facility and Interstate
MAX.
George Ehara
George Ehara is a senior project manager for Portland's Swinerton
Builders of Oregon. His most recent project is the newly completed
Novellus Systems corporate campus in Tualatin.
Swinerton specializes in building commercial, retail, microelectronics
and institutional projects. It's major project s of note include
the Trendwest Resort in Seaside, Ore.; the Roosevelt Towers
in Portland; and the Clark County Public Services Building
in Vancouver, Wash.
Susan Miller
Susan Miller is project manager for Hoyt Street Properties,
a Portland development firm that focuses on mid- to high-rise
condominiums; mixed-use residential and retail; and apartments.
Miller manages various aspects of project development, from
design development through completion and occupancy, including
overall design, interiors, marketing and project closeout.
Hoyt Street Properties is currently involved in the redevelopment
of the former Burlington rail yards into a mixed-use, urban
neighborhood that will eventually feature more than 2,500
residences and 150,000 sq. ft. of retail.
Sally Morlock
As project manager for Robinson Construction in Hillsboro,
Sally Morlock is part of the general contracting firm's marketing
team and is currently working on several tenant improvement
projects.
Robinson specializes in school work, sitework, office buildings,
retail structures and theaters, and recent projects include
Oregon City High School, Peterkort Center II, and Liberty
High School.
John Wyckoff
As principal of Portland's LSW Architects, John Wyckoff leads
design and serves as director of marketing.
LSW's areas of expertise include K-12 education, church/religious
and recreational facilities. Recent area projects include
the design of Discovery Middle School, Skyview High School,
Heritage High School and the Jim Parsley Center.
The firm was recently selected to be part of the White House
Millennium Council on Education.
