Excavator

Gradall has introduced the new Model XL 4200-II excavator, reflecting significant increases in productivity capabilities as well as new comfort and appearance advantages. Mounted on a stable crawler undercarriage with tracks that are 7 percent longer than its predecessor, the XL 4200-II is engineered to deliver a 34.6 percent increase in breakout forces, achieving 25,449 lb. Boom forces also are increased significantly, and a new standard Deere turbo-charged engine delivers an extra 10.6 percent of horsepower.

The XL 4200-II benefits from high-pressure, load-sensing hydraulics. Automatically, hydraulic pressure is adjusted to handle high productivity digging and demolition or for fine grading, sloping and finishing requiring lower boom forces. Without requiring the operator to select working modes, boom pressures - and fuel consumption - are automatically adjusted by the hydraulics system.

The boom on the XL 4200-II telescopes to 30 ft., 2 in. at ground level and can achieve a digging depth of 20 ft., 9 in. when equipped with a standard excavating bucket. It also features a new cab design with extra "elbow room" and joysticks mounted on adjustable arm pods.

Excavator/Tool Carrier

Ditch Witch recently announced its XT850, a cross between the company's SK mini-skid-steer and its MX mini-excavator series. The XT850 is a lightweight excavator/tool-carrier that comes complete with trailer, stands and numerous attachments.

The XT850 is designed to work in tight spaces and features patent-pending, 260° excavator sweep, which allows significant digging capability from one point.

The machine's rubber tracks are controlled by independent hydrostatic ground drives, giving the operator zero-radius turning capability. The diesel-powered XT850 offers optional aggressive rubber tracks.

All functions are controlled with two joysticks, and Ditch Witch claims the XT850 can drive more than 70 attachments.

Only a 3/4-ton truck is necessary to transport the entire XT850 package — excavator tool-carrier, trailer, and attachments — which weighs less than 10,000 lb GVWR. For more information visit www.ditchwitch.com.

Truck Mixers

Schwing America recently announced the Schwing/Stetter Series II STM Conventional and Booster truck mixer lines. The new truck mixers utilize a lower drum angle to provide 13-percent lower center of gravity, resulting in increased stability. A longer, narrower drum also promotes better driveability and rear visibility. The lower drum angle also improves water flow during mixing and transit, and when remixing on-site the distribution of water is faster and more thorough due to the optimized drum angle. Series II truck mixers now feature a 20-percent larger discharge chute for faster turnaround.

Other features include chutes supported on a greasable bearing for smooth rotation and a chute lock. A new ladder design angles toward the operator for easier ascent to the washstand, and a splitter hose allows washing from a wide upper platform. A 125-gallon pressurized water tank and 25-ft. cable remote also come standard.
