Mahlum/Lease/WH Pacific/Candela

W& H Pacific merges and hires new employees.

Mahlum Architects has named three new associates: Erica Hildebrand and Jay Hindmarsh, both in the Seattle office; and Amy Noe in the Portland office. Hildebrand, who has been with Mahlum for the last five years, is in charge of in-house graphic design. Hindmarsh, in addition to his architectural design work, is in charge of recruiting and hiring in Mahlum’s Seattle office. Noe is part of Mahlum’s interior architecture and design team; recent projects include the North Portland Clinic for Providence Medical Group and Pacific University’s first LEED Gold-rated student housing project.

Lease Crutcher Lewis has made a number of additions in its Seattle and Portland offices. In Portland,  Superintendent Allen Marsh and project engineers Matt Baker and Darren Clumpner have been added to the team. Marsh, who has 25 years of experience in commercial construction, joins Lewis from Howard S. Wright Construction. He is currently providing field supervision for projects at Shorenstein’s Kruse Oaks campus. Baker, who is LEED accredited, specializes in medical, industrial, and multi-family mixed use projects, and is currently working on the Pacific University student housing project. Clumpner brings experience building manufacturing facilities and commercial office buildings, and is currently part of the team managing construction of the Allison Inn and Spa in Oregon’s wine country.

In the Seattle office, Lewis has added five new staff members.  Bill Kortum joins Lewis as a Commercial Division Superintendent. Kortum has 35 years of local construction experience, including as superintendent for both Benaroya Hall and McCaw Hall.  He is currently constructing the Fifth and Yesler Building for Martin Selig Real Estate.  Debbi Hyde, who has been working as a construction scheduler for 13 years, has been hired to join the team at Boeing Everett. Mike Sager and Rob Brotherton have joined Lewis as Project Engineers. Finally, Kaley Evans has joined Lewis as an Accounts Payable Accounting Assistant.
 
As part of the merger of W&H Pacific and ASCG Inc. into a single engineering, planning, and surveying firm, the company has appointed a number of national business line managers, including three in the Northwest region. In the Seattle office, Brad Bastin, PE has been line manager for transportation projects, and Jon Warren, PLS, for survey projects. Bastin has nearly 30 years of civil/transportation experience, and has directed planning and design efforts for major public works projects. Warren brings 24 years of experience to the company, including 12 years in private practice and 12 year as the Snohomish County Surveyor. In the Portland office, Tom Jones, RLA, ASLA, has been named line manager for Land Development. Jones has over 30 years of experience in land development in both urban and rural settings, and is particularly skilled in facilitating multi-disciplinary project teams.

Candela Lighting Design and Consulting has added two new lighting designers to its team. Mikki Kunz is a graduate of Central Washington University with Bachelor Degrees in Theater Arts – Scenic Design and Interior Design. She is currently working on the Vancouver Mall and the Highline Heritage Museum in Burien, Wash. Joseph Montange graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder with a BS in Architectural Engineering. He is currently working the University Place Civic Building in Seattle.

Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington (ABC) has hired Kim Trautman as member services coordinator. Her duties include supporting the vice president of membership and managing the member discount program, annual membership directory.
