Jeffery Daggett is ACEC Washington's Engineer
of the Year
Industry retiree grew firm from
an office of two to 280 employees.
The American Council of Engineering Companies of Washington
(ACEC) recently named Jeffrey M. Daggett,
P.E., FACEC, the 2004 Engineer of the Year. Daggett retired from W&H Pacific,
a firm he co-founded in 1988 and grew from a two-office firm
with 65 employees to seven offices with 280 employees and
revenue of more than $30 million.
Daggett, a former private pilot, was involved in airport
planning and design since 1980. His love and knowledge of
flying helped him incorporate innovative and cost effective
ideas to address safety solutions specific to general aviation.
In addition to projects at regional airports throughout Washington,
Oregon and Idaho, Daggett directed a major master planning
update for Spokane International Airport. He is responsible
for the design and construction management of numerous public
works projects in transportation and public utilities including
implementing low-pressure sanitary collection systems.
In addition to his contributions to the civil engineering
technical body of work, Daggett has participated in both state
and national leadership roles with ACEC, including tenure
as the ACEC of Washington president in 1990 and as the longest
serving treasurer for the national organization.

The Pacific Northwest Chapter of Associated Builders and
Contractors (ABC) in Tigard, Ore., recently announced that
Lisa Vennes has been hired as
the chapter's new membership director.
In her new position, Vennes will be managing ABC's membership
recruitment and retention activities, including regularly
scheduled membership networking events, direct meetings with
members, and coordinate a number of new recruitment and retention
programs. She will be responsible for coordinating all chapter
events including ABC's Excellence in Construction awards program
and banquet, apprentice graduation, golf tournament, planning
conference, and monthly member networking meetings.

MulvannyG2 Architecture (Bellevue, Wash.) recently appointed
Andre' Bellerjeau to manager
of business development.
Bellerjeau will be responsible for assisting with MulvannyG2's
business development efforts and will work directly with the
corporate director of business development and the principals
of the firm's retail, office, community, industrial, international,
and interiors studios.
Bellerjeau has more than 12 years of architecture and interiors
experience, and previously worked for MulvannyG2 from 1997
to 2000.

Seattle's DLR Group recently announced a number of additions
to its architecture, engineering, planning and interiors team:
Jim Beckett, Scott
Wells and Christian Hogue,
architectural designers; Andrea Bilbrey,
interior designer; Joseph Hines,
architect; John Lukas, systems
engineer; and Reuben Schug,
business development.

Ford Graphics recently announced the appointment of Jenn
Fishback as the sales and customer service representative
at the company's new Bend, Ore., office.
Fishback trained for the position at Ford's Portland offices.
The new office is located at 1151 S. E. Centennial Court.

Sequoyah Electric of Redmond, Wash., recently hired Bill
Polis as director of business development. Polis has
more than 18 years of experience in the construction industry.

The Northwest Construction Consumer Council (NWCCC) recently
names Greg Toy as its new executive
director. In addition to a new director, NWCCC will relocate
to a new Seattle office.
Toy has more than 20 years experience in the construction
industry and has been a 10-year NWCCC member.
In addition to chairman, Doug Holen,
the balance of NWCCC's 2004 leadership is comprised of: Doug
Freymeyer, BP Cherry Point Refinery, VP private sector;
Greg Mowat, Sound Transit, VP
public sector; Dorcas Nepple,
Port of Tacoma, secretary; Burt Newbry,
Shell Puget Sound Refinery, treasurer; John
Erickson, Harris Group, Inc., affiliate director for

2004, Brenda Osterhaug, CH2M
Hill, will serve as membership chair and Gary
Smith, Lease Crutcher Lewis will serve as annual conference
chair.
The NWCCC's new office is located at 1800 Westlake Avenue
North, Suite 104, in Seattle.

Julian Dodge, a senior civil
engineer at Reid Middleton in Everett, Wash., was recently
named a LEED Accredited Professional by the U.S. Green Building
Council.
Dodge has more than 18 years of experience in civil engineering,
design, construction engineering and surveying for a wide
variety of municipal, transportation, port, waterfront and
site development projects. His current responsibilities include
project management and project engineering for site development
for public and private sector clients. Dodge is a registered
professional civil engineer in Washington and has been with
Reid Middleton for 13 years.

Brian Henson and John
Campbell have joined Harper Houf Peterson Righellis
Inc. of Portland, Ore., as professional land surveyors to
lead the firm's new surveying efforts. HHPR serves public
and private clients in the areas of transportation, residential,
subdivisions, commercial/industrial, educational, office/retail,
medical, sustainability and flood analysis.
Henson and Campbell's recent projects include Hall/Watson
Beautification Project in Beaverton, Ore., and Oatfield/Roeth
intersection in Clackamas County.
The firm has promoted two staff members, RoVawn
Spellman, marketing; and Jane
Goodstein, accounting; to associates.

Patricia (Trish) Nixon and Daniel C. Purgiel
were recently named partners at LRS Architects of Portland,
Ore. Both were named LRS associates in 1997.
Nixon heads the LRS Sustainability Committee and is in the
process of obtaining her Sustainable Building Advisor certificate.
Purgiel, who is the only architect serving on the Oregon State
Coalition for adoption of the new IBC, is an expert on code
compliance and a frequently requested presenter on the topic
across the state.

Dallas R. Marlow recently joined
Advanced American Construction Inc. of Oregon City, Ore.,
as chief estimator for the heavy marine construction firm.
He will assist AAC with estimating and managing jobs.
Marlow is a licensed professional engineer in the state of
Washington and has more than 25 years of civil construction
experience in Oregon, Washington, California and Louisiana.

Seattle's Lease Crutcher Lewis recently announced two new
hires and a promotion at the firm.
Kim Jeske, a five-year construction
professional, has Lewis as a project engineer. Her primary
assignment is the 30,000-sq.-ft. Puget Sound Bone and Joint
Center currently under construction in Lakewood, Wash.
Megan Lane has joined Lewis
as an executive assistant. She brings a divers background
in writing, editing, marketing, sales, teaching and corporate
training.
Matt Rosauer, who joined Lewis
as an intern in 1997 and became a project engineer in 1998,
has been promoted to project manager in the special projects
division. He is currently working on preconstruction and construction
for multiple projects.

Tigard, Ore., general contractor Gray Purcell Inc. recently
announced the addition of Rod Robinson
as superintendent of the firm's small projects division. Robinson
has almost three decades of experience as both a custom home
and industrial builder.
In addition to his responsibilities as project superintendent,
Robinson will handle operational functions such as overseeing
the firm's warranty and punch list program.
Career highlights include a number of church projects, such
as the City Bible Church, Northwest Baptist Church, and Ariake
Bible Church. At Gray Purcell, Robinson is currently providing
in-field supervision for the Mosiac Condominium, Graham Clinic,
Treasure Island Restaurant, and offices for Borders, Perrin
& Norrander.

Express Construction Company of Seattle has hired Patrick
Donohue as a project engineer and Brett
Henkel as a superintendent. Both are focused on the
company's tenant improvement projects.
Donohue has more than 13 years of experience in the construction
industry as an estimator for commercial, retail, environmental
and fuel systems projects.
Henkel recently completed tenant improvements for R&R
Party Rentals and Selltech Limited in Bellevue, Wash. He is
currently managing improvements for Dr. Glenn Curda, podiatrist,
and a new Horizon Bank branch in Kent, Wash.

Michael Macdonald has joined
Seattle's Rider Hunt Levett & Bailey as a senior cost
manager. With more than 18 years of experience in property
and construction consultancy, Macdonald's field of expertise
includes cost estimating and project management.
Throughout his career, Macdonald has provided cost estimating
services for both public and private projects ranging from
$1 million to $400 million. Notable projects include cost
estimating for the proposed Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino
in Las Vegas, Nev.; project management for the Phoenix Union
School District's $150 million renovation of nine high school
campuses and construction of a new high school in Phoenix,
Ariz.; and conceptual design estimating and constructability
review for a new 8,000-sq.-ft., $4 million residence in the
heart of Aspen, Colo.

Bellevue, Wash., general contractor recently welcomed Kurt
Boyd as the firm's manager of business development.
Boyd's primary responsibilities will be to develop local and
national relationships leading to select bid, design-build
and negotiated private work.
Boyd brings more than 23 years of local construction knowledge
and experience to PCL. Prior to joining PCL, he spent the
past eight years in a senior management role, dedicated to
creating, implementing and executing a complete customer care
program at a largest electrical contracting firm.
Boyd is a University of Washington/National Electrical Contractors
Association's Continuing Education Program instructor and
teaches the concepts of customer relations and communication
on an annual basis. He is on the board of the national Contractors
Business Development Association and is an active member of
the local Design Build Institute of America, Building Owners
Management Association, Society for Marketing Professional
Services and Washington State Society for Healthcare Engineering
Chapters.

Jordan Schrader PC, a Portland,
Ore., construction law firm, announced that attorney Steven
L. Shropshire has been named a shareholder in the firm. A
highly regarded attorney with nearly a, Shropshire, who has
nearly a decade of experience in the area of water rights
and natural resources, joined Jordan Schrader in the fall
of 2001.
Shropshire was named to serve on the Oregon Water Resources
Department's Ground Water Advisory Committee Surface Water
Interference Subcommittee in 2003 and the Oregon Water Resources
Department's Senate Bill 710 Work Group in 2002. He is the
chair of the Oregon State Bar Environmental and Natural Resources
Section, and is also president of the board of directors of
JOIN, a privately funded social services organization that
helps homeless individuals and families transition out of
homelessness to permanent housing.

Portland, Ore., engineering firm Otak Inc. has added Dr.
Richard Dominguez to its Water and Natural Resources
Group, which Otak is expanding regionally.
Dominguez's civil-engineering experience encompasses a variety
of water-related disciplines, from stormwater treatment and
watershed management to wetland restoration and shoreline
protection. His expertise will help guide future Otak water
and habitat-restoration projects such as those occurring along
the Willamette River. Otak also recently engineered flood-prevention
solutions for Lake Oswego, Ore., and for Lithia Creek in Ashland,
Ore.
