JONES
CHAMBERS
Craig Chambers, PE, has become president of BHC Consultants LLC in Seattle. One of the founding members of the firm, Chambers takes over the day-to-day operations from Gary Bourne, PE. Bourne remains a member of the executive committee until later next year. Chambers has more than three decades of experience in design, construction and management of public works projects. He earned his Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington.
The Oregon office of Skanska hired Mel Jones for the newly created role of diversity manager. Jones will oversee the local integration of the company’s corporate diversity initiatives. Jones has more than 17 years of experience in land use and civil design, most recently as owner of Rucker, LDC LLC, a land development consulting firm. He served on the board of directors of Vantage Point and as a community organizer for the Black Citizen’s Coalition of Portland Neighborhoods.
THOMAS
Shannon & Wilson has hired Stephen D. Thomas, PG, LHG to join their Seattle staff. With over 18 years of experience in water rights, groundwater resources and environmental consulting, Thomas will lead the firm’s hydrogeology group.
OSBERG
The AGC Education Foundation awarded the Foundation’s 2010 Distinguished Service Award to long-time supporter Allan Osberg. The award was presented at an Oct. 28 banquet by current executive board member and former Sellen Construction Ceo Bob Barrett. Over the years, Osberg has played a pivotal role in contributing to the success and vision of the AGC Education Foundation. He has promoted construction education on the state and national level and benefited students through the Mr. and Mrs. Allan F. Osberg Scholarship. He twice served as president of local chapters of AGC of Washington. As president of Osberg Construction Co.
MOUNT
David Mount, AIA, LEED AP, has been named a principal at Mahlum. Mount recently completed a two-year position as chair of the AIA Seattle Committee on the Environment, where he worked to promote sustainable building practices through education, advocacy and outreach.
Named the design lead for one of firm’s three studios last year, Mount oversees design aspects for all educational projects undertaken by the firm’s Seattle office. A 1993 graduate of the University of Arizona, Mount worked for six years in Italy with Carmassi Studio di Architettura in Pisa and Florence.
