MODDEMEYER
Steve Moddemeyer has been promoted to principal at Collins Woerman. A specialist in sustainable infrastructure planning and development, Moddemeyer consults globally on water, energy and other utility-based infrastructure initiatives.
A former senior advisor and planner with the City of Seattle, Moddemeyer led the team that created the Seattle Green Factor to generate green infrastructure in Seattle’s densest urban neighborhoods. He also led development of the sustainability policies for South Lake Union, South Downtown and the science and sustainability elements of Seattle’s Central Waterfront Plan. He joined CollinsWoerman in 2008.
The firm also hired Douglas K. Grove as senior medical planner. Grove is a specialist in healthcare planning and design using Lean principles. He has more than 25 years experience in facilities planning, project development and management, including capital projects for Virginia Mason Medical Center and Group Health Cooperative of Puget Sound. Grove holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Oregon.
Shane Miller, vice president of Spokane-based DIVCON Inc., has been elected to a three year term on the board of directors of the Tilt-Up Concrete Association.
SEARS
Matthew S. Gralund, S.E. joined M. R. Richards Engineering in Eugene as a senior engineer. Gralund has over 18 years of experience in structural engineering for building projects throughout the western states and Canada. He is currently working as project manager on a $7.7-million remodel project of Building 10 on the Lane Community College Campus that will contain art department classrooms and offices.
Mel Sears has been named area manager for the Portland office of Parsons Brinckerhoff. With 25 years experience in major transportation and infrastructure design and construction projects, Sears comes to PB from a Northwest-based consulting engineering and environmental sciences firm where he served as principal.
He previously served as a project engineer at TriMet, managing the design of the open track section of the Hillsboro MAX light rail.
Sears was a member of Oregon Transportation Vision Committee for the 2009 legislative session that helped shape the passage of the state’s Jobs and Transportation Act. He is a past President of the Oregon chapters of the American Council of Engineering Companies and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
