Complex for Mentally Ill Opens for Residents
PRINEVILLE - The opening of a special needs housing development
for adults with mental illnesses caps a successful effort
to build Housing Works' first affordable housing project in
Crook County, Ore.
The apartment complex was developed at the request of the
Prineville community by a partnership between Housing Works
and Lutheran Community Services (LCS), the mental health service
provider for Crook County. T Total cost of the project is
estimated at just over $1.71 milion.
The building design features wood and stone accents, to mesh
with High Desert design tastes and acknowledge the historical
use of the property as a mill race. A fenced courtyard provides
residents with an on-site location for their use and recreation.
