Emerick Awarded Contract For Newberg
HS Work
Newberg, Ore. - Portland-based general contractor, Emerick
Construction Co., has been awarded the contract for the $17.1
million addition and renovation project at Newberg High School.
Newberg's growth over the past decade has increased school
district enrollment by 14 percent. The passage of a $46.3
million capital improvement bond will improve facilities by
repairing school buildings, increasing safety and security,
and accommodating future growth. Currently, Newberg High School
is over capacity with one-third of the students attending
classes in portable classrooms.
The scope of the Newberg High School project includes replacing
16 portable classrooms by constructing a 68,141-sq.-ft., two-story
infill in the main campus for classrooms, cafeteria, media
center and offices. A new 22,522-sq.-ft. auditorium will be
built next to the existing music building and will accommodate
550 seats. Emerick will also build an auxiliary gymnasium,
replace the floor in the main gymnasium, and add softball
fields and tennis courts. Additional improvements include
renovations to the cafeteria and additional classroom space
in existing buildings; the installation of a school-wide security
system; expanding the existing intercom to new areas; adding
exterior horns and bells; a fireline loop; and additional
parking.
The partnering team on the Newberg High School project includes
Emerick Construction, Newberg School District, BOORA Architects,
KPFF Consulting Engineers, CBG Consulting Engineers, Interface
Engineering, Netsystems & Design, Inc., Lango/Hansen,
Ray Soucie Associates, Landry & Bogan, and Westech Engineering.
