AGC Names Oregon Chapter Officers

Wilsonville - Robert Schommer has been named the 2006 president of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) Oregon-Columbia Chapter. Schommer is a principal at Schommer & Sons, Inc., a Portland, Ore.-based general contracting company that specializes in custom commercial, residential, and specialty projects of all types with a particular emphasis on complex buildings and difficult schedules and sites. The full slate of AGC officers for 2006 includes First Vice President Dave Alexander, project manager, Lakeside Industries, Inc.; Second Vice President Todd Hess, president, Todd Hess Building Company; Secretary Andrew Beyer, vice president/general manager, Walsh Construction Co./Oregon; and Fred Williams, principal at the accounting firm of Perkins & Co., P. C. as treasurer.

In his acceptance speech at AGC’s annual conference held at Sunriver Resort in January, Schommer encouraged members of the chapter and the commercial construction industry to become involved in issues that will help make the industry stronger. He encouraged active involvement on issues such as contractor’s liability insurance and construction defects, as well as taking an active part in the legislative process in this year preceding Oregon’s next legislative session. And beyond a business focus, Schommer has asked that members of the chapter and the industry use their resources to help those less fortunate, through both chapter and individual efforts. His focus on action will strengthen both the industry and the communities that commercial contractors build.
