Ranking Oregon, Washington and Alaska Top Specialty Contractors Ranking Revenues Hit an All-Time High

Top Specialty Contractor’s revenue hit an all time high in 2008, with the top ten contractors reporting $1.9 billion in revenue over $1.79 billion in 07. McKinstry Co., a Seattle based mechanical contractor topped the list with $386 million last year compared to $338 million in 2007. In last year’s rankings J.H. Kelly topped the list at $390 million. In 2008, its revenues dropped considerably to $235 million.

Contractor Earns Mega Bonus for early bridge opening

Shine, Wash. - General Contractor Kiewit General, Poulsbo, Wash. earned a $600,000 bonus in June, by replacing the east half of the Hood Canal Bridge eight days ahead of schedule. The 1.5 mile span, the longest floating bridge over salt water in the world connects the Olympic and Kitsap Peninsulas about 25 miles northwest of Seattle.

Rating Systems Challenge Builders No Matter What the Project

In the Pacific Northwest, there are two ways to answer that question: Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (or LEED), and Built Green, a system promoted in Washington by the Master Builders Association.
