2007 Best Of Awards

This year’s outstanding projects ran the gamut from a dam to a high rise hotel, but still all signify a part of the Northwest culture.

The dam, includes a fish ladder reminding us of the Northwest icon, a jumping salmon; The Tacoma Narrows Bridge and U.S. Coast Guard Operations Center remind us of our maritime roots. The Old Tacoma Art Museum and the Northwest School take us back to the early 1900s when the region was first built. Modern projects like the Sheraton Hotel Addition, 2200 and The Wyatt lead us to the future, where downtown housing is more than a lifestyle change. It’s a testament to the economic success of the region.

Our judges named these among the winners after looking at 80 entries, the most ever received. Omid Nabipoor, Interface president; Seana Strong, Emerick Construction project manager; Kurt Boyd, PCL marketing director; Catherine Benedoto, a principal at Weber + Thompson; Asvin Mandadi, Parsons Brinckerhoff; Brian Sperry ABKJ all donated a day to examine the entries and determine the winners.

Their time and expertise was a valuable part of the process.

We would also like to thank our sponsors, PCL Construction, PSI, McKinstry Co. and Parker Smith and Feek.
