Gerding/Edlen's most recent addition to the Pearl District
is The Casey, a 15-story condo building housing 56 units.
The quarter-block development, which incorporates several
energy-efficient features, was designed as one of the greenest
condo projects in the country.
Stephanie Coyle, Hoffman project manager, says top-down
construction will allow the general contractor to finish the
$40 million project by July 2007.
"We're saving approximately three months on the schedule
and we're able to start building upward immediately rather
than having to wait and start at grade," she said..
Sustainable design elements include solar panels that will
heat water and ground-source heat pumps that will heat and
cool the building. The Casey is the first condo tower designed
for a LEED platinum rating, a difficult but rewarding prospect,
Coyle said.
