Hand in Hand: Designers Partner on Job

While LMN Architects is the local name involved in the design of the new Seattle Central Library, the project enjoys a European influence as well. Office for Metropolitan Architecture - or OMA - based in Rotterdam, partnered with LMN to form OMA/LMN - A Joint Venture.

OMA and LMN have worked together on all phases of the project. While the bulk of OMA's time was spent in the early design phase, LMN has focused on construction documents and construction administration.

Industry followers may recognize OMA's Rem Koolhaas for his work at Prada stores in New York and Beverly Hills and numerous projects in Europe.

Other design partners include Arup of London and Los Angeles and Magnusson Klemencic of Seattle. Arup and Magnusson Klemencic shared schematic and design development responsibilities, while Magnusson Klemencic helped with construction documentation and design administration. Arup designed the buildings mechanical and electrical systems.
