The local DBIA chapter won the award for the Best Chapter in the country.
Emerick wins AGC Top Safety
Portland – Emerick Construction of Portland was recently a recipient of the Associated General Contractor Oregon-Columbia Chapter's Recognition of Safety Excellence (ROSE) award for the category of Building Division, Under 100,000 work hours.
A panel of judges, comprised of representatives from AGC Safety & Loss Control, SAIF Corporation and OR-OSHA selected Emerick Construction for its dedication and commitment to safety excellence. The judges also rated Emerick highly on its management commitment and accountability, demonstrated use of proven safety practices and employee involvement.
DBIA Northwest Wins National Awards
Bellevue - Mortenson Construction won a National Design-Build Award in the Public Sector Building over $15 million category for the University of Washington Research + Technology Building in Seattle.
The construction team relied heavily on Building Imaging Modeling to complete the project. Other companies involved included CollinsWoerman Architects, Chernoff Thompson Architects (Collaborative) Johnson Controls (Operations & Maintenance) Engineer: Engineering Economists, Inc. (Commisioning Agent) KPFF (Civil) McKinstry Company (Mechanical) Sasco (Electrical) Fredericks Landscape Architects (Landscape Design) DCI Engineers (Structural) and Shannon & Wilson (Geotechnical).
The local chapter, brought home the Best Chapter Award at the DBIA National Convention. Chapters were judged on the excellence of their educational programs, their advocacy efforts in state and federal legislation and the public awareness programs promoting Design Build.
NAWIC Offers Scholarship To Construction Students
Seattle - The National Association of Women in Construction is offering a $500 scholarship to students entering their senior year in any construction related program. Application materials are available from Lucy Bodilly, at lucy_bodilly@mc-graw-hill.com.
