JLG Industries of McConnellsburg, Pa., has upgraded its SkyPower generator with a new belt-driven model for its boom lift equipment.

The new 7,500-watt belt-driven generator, which runs at 10,500-watt peak, is more efficient than hydraulic power alternatives, which require an engine to operate at higher RPM's and which raise the risk of hydraulic leaks and fluid overheating. The generator can also power electric tools - such as saws, drills, or grinders - with a power supply that lets operators run several tools simultaneously.
The upgraded generator appears on the 600S, 600SC, 800S, 800A, and Ultra Boom series boom lifts.

Bobcat Co., based in West Fargo, N.D., has added a new high-powered stump grinder to its skid-steer attachment lineup. The SGX60 model helps operators remove tree stumps more quickly for landscaping and land-clearing tasks.

Designed for loaders that have a 40 gpm auxiliary hydraulic flow system, the attachment can also work for 25 to 32 gpm high-flow loaders. The SGX60 connects to boom and arm assemblies for efficient hose routing. Meanwhile, its 58-in. reach cuts down on a loader's forward movement.
The new model has a 32-in. cutting height. That gives operators the ability to grind taller stumps with the 32 teeth on its cutting wheel.
The unit's safety features include rubber deflecting shields and screening, as well as a unique swing-circuit control valve design that prevents the cutting wheel from stalling during a cut.
The SGX60 also has an 80-degree arc that lets operators cut large stumps up to 45 in. in diameter without having to reposition the loader. And with a work group mounted at a 90-degree angle, a loader operator has more cutting area visibility.

Mustang Manufacturing of Owatonna, Minn., has developed a radio remote control boom system for its Mustang Telehandler skid-steer loader models. The radio remote control option allows a worker on a platform to control the boom without needing a cab operator in the skid-steer loader.

The new remote control pendant allows the remote operator to start up and shut down the engine, as well as raise, lower, extend, and retract the boom.
The system works on the 742, 944, and 1155 Telehandler models. It also can work in tandem with other attachments, such as truss booms or forks.
Compact and portable, the system also features Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum technology that removes the risk of interference with other radio-wave equipment.
