Added to nearly $520 million in capital bonds approved by voters, the release will pump $814 million into the state's economy. Across the state, 29 districts are slated to begin or continue work on 39 projects.
The 29 school districts funded this year are Aberdeen, Bellevue, Bethel, Camas, Everett, Evergreen, Franklin, Pierce, Granite Falls, Highline, Kent, Lake Washington, Mukilteo, Newport, North Beach, North Kitsap, Ocean Beach, Peninsula, Puyallup, Richland, Seattle, Snoqualmie Valley, Spokane, Sunnyside, Tacoma, Tumwater, Vancouver, West Valley (Spokane), Yelm and Zillah.
The construction program includes setting aside a small percentage of funds to pay for public art for new facilities. This year, the state will provide approximately $849,000 in public arts grants for these school construction projects.
